Senior Chemist
Azon is a world leader in the production of machinery and polyurethane chemicals for use in the manufacture of energy saving aluminum windows, doors, curtain wall and storefront systems. Azon is headquartered in Kalamazoo, Michigan with additional operations in the United Kingdom, and South Korea.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Chemist to join our team. As a Senior Chemist, you will be responsible for conducting research, developing new products, and ensuring quality control in our laboratory. This is a key role that requires strong analytical skills and expertise in various scientific techniques.
Responsibilities
- Conduct scientific research and experiments to develop new products or improve existing ones
- Perform quality control tests to ensure product consistency and compliance with industry standards
- Utilize analytical chemistry techniques to evaluate samples
- Conduct research to identify and qualify chemical vendors and raw material offsets
- Develop and validate analytical methods for product testing
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support product development projects
- Produce prototypes and conduct performance testing
- Document experimental procedures, results, and observations accurately
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in the field of chemistry and apply them to improve processes and methodologies
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry or related field
- Proven experience as a Chemist or Senior Chemist in a laboratory setting
- Strong knowledge of analytical chemistry principles and techniques
- Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and software for data analysis
- Experience with laboratory best practices and adherence to safety protocols
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Experience with polyurethanes, urethane coatings, adhesives, sealants, and elastomers a plus
